Celebrating 75 Glorious Years of Chapel by the Sea!
Welcome to a momentous year in the history of Chapel by the Sea! In 1949, a humble chapel was founded by the shores of Clearwater, Florida, and over the last 75 years, it has grown into a vibrant and beloved congregation. As we embark on this significant milestone, we are excited to invite you to join us in a series of special events to mark our 75th Anniversary.
January 7, 2024 - A Historic Start: Our celebrations commence with the dedication of a Peace Pole on January 7th, a symbol of unity and harmony, followed by a heartwarming potluck luncheon where we will share memories and dreams for the future. Additionally, we kick off "75 Acts of Service," a challenge to do acts of kindness for 75 consecutive days, a testament to the love that has defined Chapel by the Sea over the years.
March 3, 2024 - A Worship Celebration Like No Other: On this day, we come together for our 75th Anniversary worship celebration, featuring a special sermon by Pastor Emeritus, Rev. Herb Freitag, whose wisdom and guidance have been instrumental in our journey. We will also unveil a special anthem, commissioned just for this day, that encapsulates the spirit of our congregation. The Mayor of Clearwater will honor us with a declaration of "Chapel by the Sea" day for the city.
March 7, 2024 - A Grand Banquet: You are invited to an exquisite banquet where we will feast and celebrate the wonderful memories we've created together over the past 75 years. Time: 5:30 pm. Location: Island Way Grill, 20 Island Way, Clearwater, Florida. Cost: $55 per person includes your choice of steak, chicken, grouper or vegetarian entrees. Dress: Business casual. Cash bar available. Later in the Year - Sanctuary Rededication and Organ Recital: We are in the midst of renovations, and later in the year, we will hold a sanctuary rededication service to bless our renewed space. As the grand finale to our year of celebration, we will host a spectacular organ recital, featuring our brand new pipe organ, a gift to the church in honor of our 75th Anniversary.
This year promises to be a testament to our unwavering faith, our strong sense of community, and our commitment to the journey ahead. Chapel by the Sea has been a beacon of hope and love for 75 years, and we can't wait to celebrate this extraordinary milestone with you.
