Relay Wrap Up - On April 18th and 19th, The Chapel By The Sea Angels In The Outfield participated in the
Dunedin Relay For Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society. There were 33 people that walked and
came out to support the team, 27 from the church. These include: Jean Earley, Jan Kleinhans, Grete Wrede,
Didi Martin, Steve Redfern, Lorraine & Herb Freitag, Jan & Fred Bickel, Renee McElwaney, Raelene Piseski,
Hannah Hawi, Libby Pearce, Lonna Warren, Ken & Sara Hawi, Andrea, Albert & Jeremiah Hawi, Chami Bentley
(Hawi), Jennifer & Hallie Muller, Joe Creegan, Diane Sinicrope, Sara Henkel and as captain and co-captain,
Denise Hawi & Rosemary Larke. Friends and relatives include: Allie Klosterhoff, Sayde Schwrdel, Neil Mayhew,
Debbie & Tyler Paradis and Garrett Busari.
Our team goal was $ 4000.00 and we exceeded that by raising $4819.00 and the Dunedin Relay as a whole
is well on their way to their goal of $80,000.00. If anyone would still like to make a donation or get information,
the website is open until the end of June - www.events.cancer.org/rfldunedinfl
Three of us from the Chapel joined in the survivor’s ceremony and victory lap which was a very uplifting
and memorable experience. The evening luminaria service honored those who have won their battles with
cancer and those who have been lost to this terrible disease.
This is the third time we have completed the Relay and the participation of the Chapel continues to grow
each year and make this an awesome outreach project for our church and community. Thank you to all who
made the Relay a success. Those of you who donated, bought raffle tickets, helped to sell tickets, donated gift
certificates for the baskets, supported us through the spaghetti lunch and baseball fundraisers and of course
came out to walk throughout the 15 hours we were there.
A very special thank you to the following: Ken Hawi for his invaluable help in planning this event, arranging
many of the gift certificates, selling a ton of  raffle tickets and especially taking charge of and cooking our
wonderful spaghetti luncheon. Also bringing pizza (donated by Domino’s) and hot coffee to sustain the walkers!
Libby Pearce and our Youth Group for donating $260.00 from their Youth Fund to the cause.
Dan Walker for continuing to provide Chapel t-shirts for our outreach projects. Sara Hawi and Allie Klosterhoff
for coming early to help Rosemary and I set up the campsite and Jennifer & Hallie Muller, Neil Mayhew, Diane
Sinicrope and Renee McElwaney  for staying to help break it all down. Besides Rosemary and Denise, the
overnight “campers” were Jennifer, Hallie, Hannah and Renee.
Our raffle basket gift certificates were provided by: Sheraton Sand Key, Radisson Central, Sea Sea Riders,
Spoto’s, Danny’s Sports Bar, Hooters, Pete & Shorty’s, Gregory’s Salon, Palm Pavilion, Frenchy’s,
Metamorphosis, Bangz Salon, Dunedin Lanes & Clearwater, Dunedin and Countryside Country Clubs.
Our biggest individual fundraiser was a family friend, Tina Wolfe, who sold $600.00 in raffle tickets at her job.
Our biggest online fundraiser (and also our youngest) was Hallie Muller with $324.00. Way to go ladies!
Congratulations to Janet Bausert from the Chapel who won the Nights On The Town basket and Cliff Lombardo
from Riverview who won the Golfer’s Delight basket.                                     Denise Hawi & Rosemary Larke
